Roanoke County and the Western Virginia Water Authority combined resources to consolidate two existing buildings into one LEED Certified repair and fleet management facility.

Roanoke County: Fleet Service Center

Servicing a fleet of more than 800 automobiles, light trucks, garbage trucks, fire and rescue vehicles and other heavy equipment demands a highly functional work environment. The design team sought to create a model for sustainability and functionality. The resulting building incorporates many energy efficient features including a high-efficiency boiler powered by recycled motor oil. The hot water that is generated circulates through a hydronic radiant floor slab to deliver comfortable heating to the technicians while day light fills the interior.
