Balance modern-day upgrades and with the historic preservation of the oldest remaining residence hall on the Guilford College campus.
Guilford College: Mary Hobbs Hall
Originally constructed as a women’s dormitory in 1907, Mary Hobbs has remained a home away from home for countless residents for over 100 years. The building is beloved by many students, faculty, and alumni, and it was essential that the renovation plans take into account the rich history of the building. The renovated residence hall includes two reconstructed historic parlors, new HVAC and electrical systems, and ADA upgrades throughout. The design was carefully thought out to preserve the existing historic elements while simultaneously introducing modern and more efficient building systems.
